Two-time Asian Luge champion Shiva Keshavan has promised to include the names of all his supporters on his racing suit at the next Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
The 31-year-old Keshavan who has already competed in four Olympics has released a two-minute video to kick off a campaign ‘India for Shiva’.
In the video, in which Keshavan speeds over 100 km per hour on a sled down the Leh-Manali highway, the Himachal lad has made an appeal: “Help me spread the idea of Luge. Just share this video, and I’ll put your name on my racing suit at the Winter Olympic Games!’’
In a release issued here on Friday, Keshavan stated that he wanted the people of the country to be there in the Olympic Games with him, and felt that the campaign symbolically was the best way to make it.
Keshavan has been competing internationally from 1997, and has been part of the Winter Olympics in Nagano, Salt Lake City, Torino and Vancouver.
After winning two silver and two bronze medals at the Asian level since 2005, Keshavan won his maiden Asian gold in 2011 and defended the title last year in Nagano. He also holds the Asian track record at 49.590 seconds, and the Asian speed record at 134.3 km per hour.
