One person has been arrested by Delhi Police Crime Branch for allegedly stocking more crackers than the quantity for which his licence was issued at Shahadra here.

According to the police, 800 kg of crackers were recovered from the man, identified as Inder Vir Jain.

Acting on a tip-off that Jain had stocked more crackers than the permitted quantity in his shop at East Babar Pur, the police conducted a raid and arrested him. They seized crackers of different kinds including both locally manufactured and Chinese crackers. A case has been registered under the Explosive Act 1884, said the police.

During interrogation, Jain purportedly told the police that that he is in a business of selling crackers since 2004 and he stocks more crackers than the licence permits to earn more money on the occasion of Diwali every year.
