Heavy rain lashed Dehra Dun city on Saturday evening inundating most low-lying areas.
The rain, the heaviest downpour of the season, would continue in Dehra Dun, Uttarkashi and terai region adjoining Uttar Pradesh for the next 24 hours, said State Meteorological Centre Director Anand Sharma.
People could be seen rushing on to their terraces as water entered the posh Clement Town area and other low-lying areas along the Rispana river. Water flooded roads and compounds in Dalanwala, THDC Colony near Indresh Hospital and even Jakhan on Rajpur Road.
The worst-hit were people who purchased houses built on riverbed by unscrupulous builders.
