Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Tuesday said that his regime would promote mountaineering and adventure sports and youths would be sponsored for adventure and mountaineering camps.
Mr. Hooda was watching a presentation by mountaineer and Everest summiteer from Haryana Santosh Yadav here.
Ms. Yadav is the world's first woman to climb Mount Everest twice in less than a year and the first woman to successfully climb Mt. Everest from Kangshung face.
The Chief Minister said that the State Sports and Youth Affairs Department, Universities, National Cadets Corps (NCC) and departments concerned would be asked to sponsor the students and youths for the mountaineering and adventure sports camps.
Ms. Yadav, while making a presentation about the camps being run by her, offered to start such camps in Haryana.
Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Chhatar Singh, Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister K. K. Khandelwal, Deputy Principal Secretary R. S. Doon, Principal Secretary and Financial Commissioner Sports and Youth Affairs R. P. Chandra and Director Sports O. P. Singh were among those present.
