Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said on Sunday that he will visit Gujarat on December 10 to apprise its people of the tremendous development made by the former in every field.
Mr. Hooda, who will address several public meetings in Surat during the visit, said: “Haryana is ahead of Gujarat in every sphere.”“It is evident from statistics that Haryana is far ahead of Gujarat in terms of per capita plan budget, old age allowance, widow pension, pension for the physically-challenged, Shagun Yojna, pension for freedom fighters and per capita income,” Mr. Hooda said in an official release issued here.
He said Haryana’s per capita plan budget was Rs.10,446 against Gujarat’s Rs.8,380. He added that Haryana provided Rs.500, Rs.550 and Rs.700 as monthly allowance to more than 12 lakh senior citizens whereas Gujarat, which was three times bigger than Haryana, gave a monthly pension of Rs.300 to Rs.400 to some seven lakh senior citizen.
The Chief Minister claimed that in Gujarat, the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi, only Rs.6,000 per month was being given to freedom fighters, while Rs.20,000 per month was being given as a Samman Pension to freedom fighters in Haryana. — PTI
