Patiala/Talwandi Sabo: Sikhs on Monday celebrated the 300th anniversary of the consecration of Guru Granth Sahib as the eternal guru of Sikhs.

The main function in Punjab was organised by Shiromani Gurudwara Parbhandhak Committee at Takht Damdama Sahib (Talwandi Sabo). Though the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, along with other Sikh organisations, too marked the tercentenary celebrations in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Chandigarh, the Takht Hazur Sahib and Takht Patna Sahib would celebrate the ‘Gurta-Gaddi Diwas’ at Abchal Nagar Hazur Sahib in Maharashtra on October 30. Takht Hazur Sahib, Nanded, would celebrate a week-long ‘300 Saal Guru de Naal’ with ‘Takhat snan’ from October 27.

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal extended his greetings to Sikhs all over the world on the auspicious occasion.

Addressing a congregation of devotees at Takhat Sri Damdama Sahib,he exhorted the people to draw inspiration from Guru Granth Sahib and follow the teachings and ideology of the great Gurus to carve out an ideal society with equal rights for everyone regardless of caste, colour and creed. — PTI
