A day after father-son duo were shot at and critically injured by over a dozen armed people in a daring attack inside the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a multi-speciality hospital here, one of the injured succumbed to injuries on Wednesday. Three of the accused have been arrested.

“Joginder (27) succumbed to his injuries at the Medanta Medicity Hospital during treatment and the body was handed over to his family after post-mortem in the afternoon. His father, Satbeer, is still critical. His family took him to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital on Wednesday,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Maheshwar Dayal.

Joginder and Satbeer, who were admitted to Sunrise Hospital on Khandsa Road near Sector 10A following a scuffle outside the court on Tuesday, were recuperating in the ICU when over a dozen armed men barged inside and fired at them in the presence of doctors and paramedical staff.

Assailants

In 2011, there was a shootout between the two groups in Khandsa village over a property dispute and Joginder was booked for attempt to murder. The two groups again had a scuffle outside the court during a hearing on Tuesday and Joginder and Satbeer were beaten up.

The police took them to Sunrise Hospital but the assailants managed to track them down and attacked again in hospital. Eight persons were named in the First Information Report in the case and three of them have been arrested.

“The prime accused, Manoj, has been arrested along with two of his accomplices,” said Mr. Dayal.
