  • Rs.50 crores for upgradation of facilities and skills
  • Effort towards achieving a second green revolution: V-C

    DEHRA DUN: The Rs.50-crore special grant announced by Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram in his budget speech in Parliament for up-gradation of facilities and skills at Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology in Pantnagar has been welcomed by the university and the farmers of Uttarakhand.

    Describing the grant as timely and an effort towards achieving a second Green Revolution, Vice-Chancellor P. L. Gautam said the university would now go ahead to realise the national goals with fresh vigour.

    "The university will now be further geared to revamping of its infrastructure and reorientation of its research and education programmes with focus on organic farming, animal husbandry, dairying, quality planting material, fishery, forestry, biotechnology, biodiversity, crop diversification, information technology, hi-tech and precision farming, marketing and trade, sustainable management of natural resources, agri-business, post-harvest technology and establishment of referral laboratories on food quality and safety, post-harvest technology, etc, which have an enormous potential," said Dr. Gautam.
