A 19-year-old girl has been rescued by the Central District Police from a brothel on G.B. Road here. The police were assisted by a voluntary organisation in carrying out the operation.

A person accompanied by a volunteer from Shakti Vahini approached the police earlier this week saying that his daughter was missing from their house in South 24 Pargana district of West Bengal.

Complaint

In his complaint, he told the police that his daughter had been kept confined in a brothel on G.B. Road against her wishes. The police registered a case and conducted a raid at Kotha No. 59 on G.B. Road and the missing girl was rescued. Following this, a police station in 24 Pargana was informed about the rescue. During investigation, the rescued girl purportedly told the police that she was lured by a boy who on the pretext of marrying her brought her to Delhi. But instead he sold her to the brothel. The girl was produced before the Child Welfare Committee
