NEW DELHI: Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni on Saturday launched a fund-raiser to support philanthropic causes of non-government organisation Kinship for Humanitarian, Social and Holistic Intervention in India (KHUSHII).

Speaking at a function here, the Minister urged young, middle-aged and elderly people to come forward and generously give money during the “Joy of Giving Week” to be held from September 27 to October 3.

Bollywood actor Sonam Kapoor, the young brand ambassador for the NGO, said she was honoured to be associated with KHUSHII and being able to promote various initiatives taken by them in different fields.

“I believe each one of us should come forward and wholeheartedly support the ‘Joy of Giving Week’. KHUSHII has taken up a big and challenging role for this week. It will organise a series of programmes that will allow Delhiites to participate and give easily and transparently to a cause of their choice. Your contribution will be used to impact lives of underprivileged persons or people afflicted with cancer and other diseases. The contributions will be used to support the causes of NGOs that have been identified by us and also to fund their internal projects,” she said.

Socialite Vandana Luthra said through a combination of events, exhibitions and memorabilia every citizen of Delhi would become a part of the landmark moment in some form or the other.
