Two thousand titles will be available at the French pavilion

As France is the guest of honour country at the weeklong New Delhi World Book Fair, the Embassy of France in India will provide a glimpse of the unique French culture through an exhibition titled “France Heritage” at Pragati Maidan here from February 4 to 10.

For film connoisseurs, a series of screenings including Delicacy by David Foenkinos and Stephane Foekinos and The Princess of Montpensier by Bertrand Tavernier have been planned.

Two thousand French titles will be available at the French pavilion. A host of literary events including book releases, workshops and encounters with renowned French authors Tahar Ben Jelloun, Kenize Mourad and Dominique Sigaud have been arranged so that book lovers interested in French books can interact with writers whose work they are familiar with.

According to NBT chairman A. Sethumadhavan, French authors and scholars will engage in discussions with their Indian counterparts at literary programmes during the week-long event.

“Apart from professional roundtables, the vibrant cultural heritage of this European country would come alive through its music, food and cinema. France is known for its strong publishing industry. As the focus country, it will provide glimpses of the book publishing industry and its writings through a large contingent of publishers,” said an NBT employee.
