High Court notices to Centre, Delhi Govt., hospitals

The Delhi High Court has issued notices to the Centre, the Delhi Government, the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital here and others on a petition by a couple seeking directions for free transfusion of blood to their eight-year-old thalassemia-afflicted son.

The couple have sent a letter to the Court which the Bench converted into a public interest litigation. The patient is being treated at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.

According to the letter, the patient requires blood transfusion every fortnight. His father was working with a private limited company and his monthly earnings did not allow him to bear expenditure on procurement of blood on a regular basis.
