The Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation is planning four major industrial estates at Okhla, Patparganj, Bawana and Narela with an initial budget allocation of Rs.268 crore.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi and the Delhi Development Authority are both expected to transfer their industrial estates to the DSIIDC within the next few months.

Rs. 1,300 crore in next five years

According to DSIIDC CMD Chetan Sanghi, an infrastructure investment of Rs.1,300 crore would be required over the next five years. An industrial development fund has already been created with Rs.74 crore as the seed capital.

Further, the physical and financial mapping of the industrial areas has already been completed.

Mr. Sanghi also said the DSIIDC intends to generate a large number of employment opportunities in rural as well as urban areas through these projects.

In order to encourage non-polluting small and medium industries in Delhi, the DSIIDC will also be setting up a very large multi-level manufacturing hub in North-West Delhi which will be located on an area of 150 acres. The estate will be developed with an estimated cost of Rs.3,100 crore at Rani Khera, the construction of which is scheduled to start within nine months.

A knowledge-based industries park at Baprola is also being constructed and will be spread over 77 acre. The park is expected to provide direct employment to 1 lakh people.
