Four men allegedly involved in stealing Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited cables have been arrested by the Crime Branch of Delhi Police.

Acting on a tip-off the police laid a trap and arrested four of them at Sewa Nagar on Monday. They were identified as Rajender, Sunil Sadhu, Shahid and Vijay.

During interrogation, alleged gang leader Rajender disclosed that they committed thefts in early morning hours. After identifying the spot, the accused would park his car near a manhole, stand nearby with a file cover, posing as an MTNL contractor.

The gang members would enter the manhole, steal the cable and drive away. They would dispose it of to a scrap dealer.
