NEW DELHI: Four alleged criminals were arrested at Badarpur following an encounter with the Special Staff of the South Delhi police on Sunday. The police claim to have recovered two pistols from their possession.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Delhi) Anil Shukla, a team led by Inspector Rajender Singh had been on the hunt for one Premveer for the past three months. On Sunday, it came to know that Premveer and his accomplices would enter Delhi from Faridabad in a Maruti Zen car.
Subsequently the police laid a trap and intercepted the vehicle at Meethapur.
According to the police, Premveer and his accomplices got off the car and opened fire at them. However, the police overpowered all four.
The three accomplices of Premveer have been identified by the police as Rajesh, Om Prakash and Jitender. The police said the accused were involved in 74 cases of murder, dacoity, robbery, kidnapping for ransom and carjacking in Delhi and neighbouring U.P. and Haryana. Premveer has allegedly been involved in nine cases of murder and 11 of robbery.
