Four persons allegedly running a betting racket on an Indian Premier League cricket match have been arrested in Central Delhi. The police claim to have seized 18 mobile phones and some cash from the accused.

The accused have been identified as R. Tulsidhar (52), Harjeet Singh (39), Arvind Katyal (38) and Sunil Bhatti (31).

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Delhi) Alok Kumar said the breakthrough in the case came after the police received a tip-off on Tuesday that a betting racket was being run from a hotel at Nabi Karim on the IPL match between Delhi Daredevils and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Subsequently, they mounted a raid and arrested the four accused.During interrogation, Tulsidhar purportedly disclosed that he had hired two lines on their mobile phones for regular updates on the betting rates at various stages of the match. The accused persons, who had been running the racket for the fortnight, would receive bets from their clients.
