Dense fog affected flights at Indira Gandhi International Airport here on Thursday and also delayed train movements at New Delhi station. Dense fog enveloped the airport disrupting the schedule of over 40 flights.

Four flights were cancelled and 36 delayed as the visibility became very low early in the morning, airport sources said.

Low visibility

Visibility may reduce below 200 m in dense fog from 4-30 a.m. on Friday.

As the main runway was in operation, it did not have much affect on flight operations barring delay in the schedule of some flights. Some of the flights were cancelled either due to operational reasons or bad weather conditions at the destination or due to late arrival of flights.

15 trains delayed

According to Northern Railway sources, over 15 trains were delayed due to fog. They included the Mahananda Express, Sampoorn Kranti Express and North East Express.

Twelve trains had to be cancelled and five rescheduled.
