NEW DELHI: Dense fog at Delhi airport delayed over half-a-dozen domestic flights on Wednesday morning.

Seven morning flights to Amritsar, Mumbai, Leh, Chandigarh, Pune and Patna were delayed by up to an hour because of poor visibility on the runway.

Airport Meteorological Department director R. K. Jenamani said: “Between 1-30 a.m. and 11-30 a.m. flights had to use CAT-I instrument landing system. However, for an hour beginning 7-30 a.m., CAT-III instrument landing systems were implemented due to dense fog. The runway visual range was between 300 and 350 metres at that time.”

“Dense fog lasting for a longer duration can be expected on Thursday,” Dr. Jenamani added.
