Soccer fans tune in to television sets across the Capital

NEW DELHI: Millions of miles away from Germany, Delhiites on Friday got ready to watch the ball that will dominate the world for a little over four weeks.

Tuning in to television sets across the Capital -- whether it was lounging in front of the couch at home or sipping beer glued to large screens set up in hotels across the city -- it was flavour Germany that ruled the day.

"We are quite busy. There are many people who have come only to watch the match,'' said a Hotel Taj Palace official. Hotels and pubs in the Capital have geared up for the event and had plenty of soccer crazed fans watching on Friday evening. Kicking off the match in grand style, albeit not on home ground, but with plenty of "home" advantage was the German Embassy that held a mega function for the event. With a big screen, true German brew and food, it was a chance for fans to cheer their team on.
