to go on fast

Employees of the Food Corporation of India have announced that they would go on an indefinite fast from June 7. The FCI Executive Staff Union has stated that its office bearers will start the fast in front of the residence of Union Minister of State (Independent charge) for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution K. V. Thomas.

“We are demanding parity in percentage of allowance/ perks under cafeteria approach, sanction of adequate staff for FCI, no harassment of field staff on account of alleged abnormal storage and rail transit losses among other things,” said the Union in a release.
