Former Haryana Minister and Congress MLA Sampat Singh on Tuesday urged the Haryana Government to link its new Stage Carriage Scheme with Public Private Partnership Policy and called for an independent authority for its effective implementation.

In a statement issued here, he said that such an independent authority should have officers of State or Regional Transport Authorities and some representatives from different private cooperative transport societies or bus operators, other stake holders and daily passengers.

“This system will work in a better way and protect the interests of all. All the disputes and grievances will be settled amicably,” he added.

While appreciating the new Stage Carriage Scheme, he also suggested that local routes in almost all big cities having population of more than two lakh must be allotted to private or public transporters for providing better transport facilities which had so far been given in Rohtak, Panipat and Ambala.

He said that he had earlier given the suggestions to the Transport Department after going through the proposed scheme. He further said that the Transport Department should also watch the interest of bus operators.
