Unhappy with the recent decision to exclude Pali as an optional subject in the civil services exams, the United Dalit Students’ Forum, a student organisation in JNU, held a protest march outside the Union Public Service Commission office here earlier this week.

“The Indian classical language Pali was in the UPSC syllabus since 1981. By removing it injustice is being done not only to Indian history but this is also discriminatory as the other subjects that are to be removed are foreign languages like Russian and Chinese,” said a UDSF statement.
