Property developer Emaar MGF has consented to demolish 17 studio flats illegally constructed in the upper basement of residential towers at the Commonwealth Games Village. This followed a notice on May 2 from the Delhi Development Authority to Emaar MGF to demolish the flats.

The notice was issued after a communication from the Emaar MGF saying they wanted to clear all hurdles in receiving completion certificates for the flats in their possession in the “interest of their customers” who had purchased flats but were awaiting their delivery after legal wrangles between the developer and the DDA began. The issue is being heard in the Delhi High Court.
