Four persons, including two scarp dealers, have been arrested by the Central Delhi Police for allegedly being in possession of an elephant tusk.

Acting on a tip-off, the police team laid a trap on service road near Raj Ghat on Wednesday and arrested four persons when they came in an Alto car. The four were later identified as Braham Singh (56), Dinesh Gupta (38), Mahender Singh (38) and Rashid Malik (21).

An elephant tusk was allegedly seized from their possession and a case was registered at the Darya Ganj police station.

During interrogation, Dinesh purportedly told the police that he bought the tusk from Naziabad in U.P. for Rs.2.5 lakh. Mahender and Rashid had purportedly told Dinesh that he could make huge profit by buying and selling elephant tusks and also helped in procuring the tusk. Bhraham, a resident of Ghaziabad, allegedly offered his Alto car to the three to look for prospective buyer.

Dinesh runs an electrical items shop in Gokalpuri. Braham is a property dealer. Mahender and Rashid are property dealers.
