A 72-year-old retired chief engineer and his wife were found murdered at their residence near here, police said on Sunday.

Sat Parkash Singh Bedi, retired Chief Engineer of Punjab Public Health Department, and his wife Gurcharan Kaur (68), retired head of the department of Government Medical College, were found murdered at their residence in Garhshankar town, Hoshiarpur SSP Balkar Singh Sidhu said.

The couple was strangulated. All household articles were found lying scattered. The couple's car bearing Chandigarh registration number was also missing, he said

Mr. Sidhu said the case is being investigated from various angles but prima facie it appeared to be a case of robbery. - PTI
