While some students will be headed for their first day in college at Delhi University on Wednesday as it opens for a new session, many others will be visiting colleges to secure a seat as the eighth list for admissions was announced late on Monday night.

Commerce can still be had albeit at 99.25 per cent and Sociology at 97.5 per cent at Hindu College, while English is available at Gargi College at 87.5 to 91.5 per cent and History at 82 to 86 per cent.

Admissions under the eighth cut-off list will go on for three days beginning Tuesday. In the past, prominent colleges in DU usually had their seats full within the third list and others usually completed their admissions within the fifth. Unusually high cut-offs and, in some cases, too many withdrawals are the reasons behind the seats still remaining empty.

“Courses like Business in Management Studies have resulted in students withdrawing from Commerce,” said Hindu College Principal Pradyum Kumar.
