The Election Commission has rejected an appeal by Jitender Jog filed under Section 11 of the Representation of the People Act,1951, for removal of disqualification order imposed on him under Section 10-A of the Act.

Stating this here on Friday, Haryana's Chief Electoral Officer Sumita Misra said

Mr. Jog had contested the Assembly election from Barwala as a BJP candidate in October 2009. As per Section 78 of the Representation of the People Act, every contesting candidate has to lodge with the District Election Officer an account of his election expenses within 30 days from the date of declaration of the result. However, Mr. Jog failed to lodge an account of his election expenses by the stipulated date.

The Election Commission issued a show-cause notice to Mr. Jog but he again failed to respond within the stipulated period. Consequently he was disqualified for three years.
