With 30 new garbage removal trucks flagged off in East Delhi on Thursday, and 40 more joining the fleet by the month-end, the civic body is all set to improve cleanliness in the area. East Delhi Mayor Annapurna Mishra, who flagged off the fleet, said garbage and solid waste will now be easily collected and disposed of to the sanitary landfill site in Ghazipur.

Each truck, which costs Rs.20 lakh, is also compliant with pollution emission norms, said Municipal Commissioner S. S. Yadav. He said the civic body is committed to improving the sanitation conditions in East Delhi.

On Tuesday, the East Delhi Municipal Corporation also launched its “Citizen Helpline 155303” service. Through this service, not only public complaints will be registered but citizens will be able to know about the services rendered by different departments, said Ms. Mishra. The complaints will automatically be forwarded to the concerned department or officer for necessary action.
