Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal has asked the suspended Indian Administrative Service officer Durga Shakti Nagpal to join the party and contest against Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav from Uttar Pradesh’s Mainpuri Parliamentary constituency.

“We extend an open offer to Ms. Nagpal to contest the Lok Sabha election against Mulayam Singh Yadav from the Mainpuri constituency. She is seeking justice from the system which seems ironical because her fight is against the system itself,” said Mr. Kejriwal on Friday.

The U.P. Government suspended Ms. Nagpal on July 28 allegedly after she took on the sand mining mafia in Greater Noida. The government, however, alleged that she was suspended for supervising the demolition of a wall of a religious structure. Mr. Kejriwal also alleged that there was a transport scam going on in Delhi, especially through contractors who issue the vehicle fitness certificates. “The party will get the scams of Sheila Dikshit investigated through Jan Lokayukta once we come into power,” said a party statement.
