The BJP received support from Delhi University teachers on Friday with a delegation visiting the State BJP office. “We came here to express our solidarity with the party and we have decided to work hard to promote the seven candidates from Delhi,” said Inder Kapahi, a former Physics professor from Kirori Mal College.

Mr. Kapahi admitted that some of the teachers were previously AAP supporters but after the party resigned from the government they decided to support a “stable government” such as the BJP. “There were several teachers who were actively working for the AAP before but after they resigned from running the government they lost the support,” he said. There were representatives at the Delhi BJP office from Hindu College, Dyal Singh college, LSR, Miranda House among many others, he added.

The delegation told Delhi BJP chief Harsh Vardhan that they will largely focus on colonies in Delhi that are inhabited by teachers such as Mukherjee Nagar, Mayur Vihar, Ashok Vihar and Dwarka.

“If the message comes from a teacher then people take it seriously,” said Mr. Kapahi.
