NEW DELHI: Investigations into the sting operation conducted against Uma Khurana, a woman teacher of Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, showing her to be allegedly involved in the flesh trade have raised serious doubts about the motive behind it.

The police have found that Uma owed over Rs. 1 lakh to Virender Arora, the businessman who was arrested on charges of supplying a girl to her.

As she was not repaying the money despite several reminders, the police suspect that Virender decided to frame her. He allegedly tipped off the reporter who conducted the “sting operation”.

The girl who was shown as one of the victims of the flesh trade was apparently known to the reporter and purportedly disclosed that she was told that a sting operation was being acted out.

The Crime Branch of the Delhi police is examining the original video tapes of the sting operation against Uma.

On Wednesday, Virender was produced in a Delhi court which remanded him to 10 days’ judicial custody.
