Police suspect the role of a fellow servant in the case

The 50-year-old woman was found murdered inside the Green Park residence of a businessman

Medical examination of the body hinted at the possibility of either strangulation or smothering

NEW DELHI: A 50-year-old domestic help was found murdered under highly mysterious circumstances inside her employer’s house in Green Park here on Sunday. The police suspect the role of a fellow domestic help.

The murder came to light when Jagdish found his mother Rambeti lying unconscious in the servant quarter on the third floor of her employer Devender Jain’s house in the morning. He later informed the police.

The police took the woman to a hospital where she was declared brought dead. “Initially it appeared to be a case of suicide or natural death. But medical examination of the body hinted at the possibility of either strangulation or smothering. A murder case was than registered,” said a senior police officer. The police suspect that Rambeti was killed by fellow help Chetan after she probably overheard his plan to burgle the house and warned him against it. Chetan is absconding since. Several police teams have been fanned out in his search.

“Rambeti, a resident of Chattarpur, had joined the Jains three days ago. Jagdish would drop her at the house in the morning and take her back home in the evening. On Saturday evening, when Jagdish went to pick up his mother up he was told that she had left on her own. He went back home, but did not find his mother. On Sunday morning, he called up the police and told them that his mother was found murdered inside the Green Park residence of Mr. Jain,” said the police officer.

Mr. Jain is a businessman.

Jagdish along with his relatives raised slogans outside the residence of Mr. Jain later in the day seeking justice.
