NEW DELHI: Capturing the local essence and relevant histories of famous Indian cities is "Indian Rendezvous" on Discovery Travel and Living channel. Helping viewers soak in the sights and sounds and meet new people, the series intends to guide travellers to their favourite city and make it a delightful experience.

While Mumbai premiered on November 12, the Delhi episode -- hosted by Ayaan Ali Khan, son and disciple of sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan -- will be premiered on the channel on Sunday.

Speaking about the episode, Ayaan says the history of Delhi is essentially the history of the country. Noting that Delhi has always been identified with power and imperial sway, Ayaan says: "Situated on the banks of the Yamuna, Delhi offers the intrepid travellers a host of experiences like great cuisine, places to unwind, a generous display of culture and fashion, some of the finest museums in the country and a wealth of traditional and contemporary crafts. It was great to get an opportunity to present this majestic city in `Indian Rendezvous'."

A perfect blend of places and personality, other episodes on Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bangalore will be telecast later.

The series is aimed at rediscovering the ultimate travellers' destinations in India. Each week one popular metropolis from India is re-discovered by a celebrity dweller from that city.

Bollywood actress Konkona Sen displays the true spirits of the "City of Joy'', while acclaimed director Nagesh Kuknoor takes the viewer to experience the hi-tech city of Hyderabad. Talented artiste Meera Vasudevan will put together the spirit of Chennai, while multi-faceted personality Vasundhara Das will bring alive the "Garden City'' of Bangalore.
