Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Virbhadra Singh on Saturday said that Himachal Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal is playing the politics of ‘deception'.

In a press conference here he blamed the BJP leadership for offering the natural resources of the hill State to outsiders and businessmen close to the Sangh Parivar. He said the State government has offered about 170 bighas of prime forest land in downtown Shimla to some private entrepreneurs who are now involved in large scale green felling there.

Calling it a total violation of Forest and Land Acts, he said that all those guilty officials should be immediately suspended.

He threatened to approach the judiciary if no urgent action is taken against them.

He said another company Optima Constructions in Benani in Solan district has been given large tracks of land. He claimed that one person from Nagpur headquarters of RSS, Gaurav Jain, has been given three prime sites in thick forest lands under the guise of eco tourism projects. The Government should have given these projects to the State-run Himachal Tourism Development Corporation, he alleged.

The Union Minister also mocked at Mr Dhumal for running the government from Jalandhar in Punjab.

Allegations

When asked what action he had taken during his last stint when similar allegations of selling the State to outsiders were made against the then BJP-ruled government, Mr Singh promised that he would stop all ‘benami' and illegal deals and would lock all unlawfully constructed buildings and real estate projects after coming into power this time.

He refuted the accusation that the land mafia is supporting both the parties and is scared of none.
