940 vehicles fined in anti-pollution drive

A total of 940 vehicles have been fined for not having a proper pollution under control (PUC) certificate during a special drive launched two days ago by the Delhi Government’s Transport Department.

According to Transport Department officials, since the drive was launched on April 24, a total of 7,309 vehicles have been checked, and 940 were fined Rs.1,000 each for not carrying the PUC certificate.

“On Saturday, a total of 1,931 vehicles were checked and 225 drivers prosecuted,” said an official. – PTI
