A series of programmes lined up to mark the occasion

To commemorate the diamond jubilee celebration of the Election Commission of India, a series of programmes would be organised by the office of the Chief Electoral Officer of the Delhi Government in collaboration with the Commission, Delhi CEO Rina Ray and Director General of ECI Akshaya Raut said while addressing a press conference at Delhi Secretariat on Thursday.

Ms. Ray said a symposium on “Sharing Best Electoral Practices” will be opened and inaugurated by Chief Election Commissioner of India S.Y. Qureshi as part of the celebration.

The symposium will be organised over six sessions in which different topics such as Challenges in Management of Electoral Rolls, Innovative Electoral Practices, Innovative Electoral Practices-II, Voter Education and Awareness and Involving the Youth in Electoral Process would be taken up.Apart from this a rare exhibition of photographs covering salient features of the elections in the last 60 years will be mounted at Dilli Haat at INA. This three-day exhibition will be inaugurated by Dr. Qureshi on Friday. Mr. Raut said at Dilli Haat a film on Indian elections will also be shown to the visitors on half hourly basis in English and Hindi. He said the programmes have been organised zone wise so that all the States can participate. He said after covering the entire country a unique documentation of 600 District Election Commissions of the country would be prepared and used for reference and documentation.
