NEW DELHI: Delhi Urban Development Minister A. K. Walia on Thursday expressed satisfaction over the permission given by the Delhi High Court for development work in unauthorised colonies that have come up in the Capital on government land.

Following the permission, Dr. Walia said, he had directed the officials in the Urban Development Department to work towards formal regularisation of the 1,218 unauthorised colonies that were issued provisional regularisation certificates.

Dr. Walia said the Delhi Government also has to submit its action taken report in the High Court as the period of one year after issue of provisional regularisation certificates is coming to an end. “We are lagging behind in fulfilling promises made to the people only because of lukewarm response and multiplicity of authority,” he said.

The Minister expressed confidence that funds of MPs, MLAs and Municipal Councillors would be used for development works in all unauthorised colonies.
