Nearly 300 CRPF personnel staged a flag march with the Punjab Police on Thursday to instil confidence among people that they could exercise their franchise without fear during the February 23 Punjab Assembly by-election from Moga.

The CRPF jawans arrived here earlier in the day to maintain law and order and smooth voting.

The flag march started from the district administrative complex and after passing through the main market and streets of Moga town culminated at the Subedar Joginder Singh roundabout.

Senior Superintendent of Police Ashish Chaudhry said three companies of the BSF, comprising around 300 personnel, would reach here on Friday and similar flag marches would be staged in rural areas.

The SSP also said he had held a meeting with senior officers of the CRPF and reviewed security arrangements for smooth, free and fair polling. - PTI
