Former Indian cricketer Murali Kartik was involved in a road accident near the Polish Embassy in Chanakyapuri here when the vehicle he was driving allegedly rammed another leaving four, including Kartik’s wife, injured.
According to a senior police officer, the incident took place in the early hours of Friday when the left-arm-spinner and his wife Shweta Kartik were on their way to their house in Green Park from Taj Mansingh Hotel.
When the Volvo that Kartik was driving entered Niti Marg from the slip lane, it met with an accident with a sports utility vehicle which was coming from the airport and going towards Mayur Vihar.
Following the collision, the occupants of the car – Sudeep, who owned the vehicle, Rajkumar who was driving it, and another man -- were injured.
Sudeep sustained a fracture in his right hand while the two others had minor injuries.The cricketer was unhurt but Shweta sustained some minor sprain in her hand, police said.
A call was made to the Police Control Room and Sudeep and Shweta were taken to the nearby Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital from where they were discharged after first aid.Since neither side filed any police complaint against the other, no case has been registered but a general diary entry has been made.
The vehicles were taken to the Chanakyapuri police station, said the police.
