Attacking the Congress’ claim of turning Delhi into a world-class city, the State unit of the Communist Party of India (CPI) said on Wednesday the city has attained world-class levels only in “corruption in government departments and rising prices of essential commodities”.

The Bharatiya Janata Party also came under attack from the CPI.

“The BJP, which has ruled the Municipal Corporation of Delhi for the past ten years, is hand-in-glove with the Congress for their pro-rich and corporate politics in Delhi and elsewhere,” said CPI leader Baban Kumar Singh.

The CPI pointed out that neither the Congress nor the BJP opposed privatisation of distribution of electricity and water.
