Asked to appear in spurious drugs case

New Delhi: Expressing its displeasure, a Delhi court on Monday issued notice to the city Municipal Commissioner for not complying its earlier order in connection with alleged illegal sale of spurious drugs and directed him to appear before the court next week.

Metropolitan Magistrate (MM) Ajay Goel issued notice to MCD Commissioner A K Nigam asking him to file a status report on May 5 on alleged selling of spurious drugs in Naya Bazaar area, which is a matter of concern for everybody.

Praveen Kumar, a resident of Naya Bazaar, in his complaint last month alleged that some of his neighbours were selling various spurious drugs in the area. The police had not taken any step to stop sale of these drugs, despite of several complaints, he claimed.

The shopkeepers in the area were also selling the same medicine on different levels at varying costs, he alleged.- PTI
