NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Saturday refused to grant bail to underworld don Babloo Srivastava in the Lalit Suneja murder case here in August 1992 citing his antecedents and propensity to commit crimes.

A Delhi court in March this year had sentenced Srivastava and his co-accused businessman Nitin Shah to life imprisonment, holding them guilty of entering into a conspiracy to eliminate the latter's employee Lalit Kumar Suneja in the Shakarpur area of East Delhi following a payment dispute.

In the High Court, Srivastava had sought suspension of his sentence and grant of bail submitting that he had been in jail for the past ten years and there was no hope of his appeal being taken up for consideration in the near future in view of the pendency of matters in the Court.

He could not be kept in imprisonment due to the delay in taking up his appeal for consideration, counsel for Srivastava submitted.
