Kunal Ghosh says a section of the party is making him a scapegoat in the Saradha scam
A day after he expressed dissent with a section of the party leadership, Trinamool Congress MP Kunal Ghosh was grilled by the police for over four hours in connection with his alleged involvement in the Saradha Group scam which left lakhs of investors shorn of their life’s savings.
Mr. Ghosh, who had demanded a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the scam, said on Friday that a section of the Trinamool leadership was making him a “scapegoat” in the multi-crore scam. Though the Rajya Sabha MP did not link the summons from the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate — which is investigating the scam with “politics” — he did allege that a “conspiracy” had been hatched against him by those involved in the scandal.
“A conspiracy has been hatched against me by those who are involved in the scam. But who all are behind the conspiracy I can’t say. I am ready to face any probe. I have full confidence in the police, the detective department and [Chief Minister] Mamata Banerjee,” Mr. Ghosh said.
