A recently recruited constable was stabbed to death by unknown assailants near Adarsh Nagar Metro Station on Saturday. The police suspect robbery to be the motive behind the murder.

The incident took place around 10-30 p.m. when Constable Harkesh Meena, who had joined the force in 2010 and was posted at the Narela police station, was stabbed. He was then not wearing his uniform at the time of the incident. The police found his mobile phone and a poly-bag containing his uniform at the spot. “However, his purse was missing. It appears to be a case of robbery,” said a police officer.

The constable was rushed to Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. The police have registered a case and are trying to identify the killers. The victim lived in Dilshad Garden.
