The Delhi High Court has upheld the conviction of a man in a two-decade-old corruption case for taking a bribe of Rs.500 to shift a telephone connection of the office of a private company from one area to another. Justice R. V. Easwar showed magnanimity and reduced the sentence of accused C. B. Rai from two years of imprisonment awarded by the trial court to one year in view of “the fact that the appellant has undergone a long period of trial and the fact that he has no history of taking bribes”.
