An all party delegation of Members of Parliament met Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on Monday on the issue of “persecution” of Muslims by law enforcement agencies in the name of terror investigation.

They demanded an overarching enquiry by a Supreme Court judge into all such cases since 2001.

They also demanded rehabilitation and compensation package to victims of fabricated cases.

The delegation also demanded enquiry into the conduct of the investigating officers and agencies against whom the courts have passed strictures for “deliberately framing citizens in fabricated terror cases”.

The Prime Minister expressed serious concern on the issue and assured the delegation that he would personally discuss the matter with the Home Minister.

The delegation included Ram Vilas Paswan (Lok Janshakti Party), Ram Gopal Yadav (Samajwadi Party), Sitaram Yachuri (Communist Party of India (Marxist) and Mani Shankar Aiyar (Congress).
