The vice-principal of a government college allegedly committed suicide by setting himself on fire in Shamli town of Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, reports PTI quoting the police.

A suicide note was recovered from the spot where Dharamvir Upadhyaya, Vice-Principal of Jawaharlal Inter College in Garhi Pukhta town, ended his life, the police said.

In the suicide note, Mr. Upadhyaya mentioned illness as the reason behind taking the extreme step, they said.

This was the third incident of suicide in the district during the past 12 hours.

Two persons, Bhupesh Goel and Yogesh Kumar, also allegedly committed suicide in two separate incidents after attempting to murder their family members on Saturday. - PTI
