The CBI investigating the infamous Ghaziabad court Provident Fund scam on Thursday filed a plea in a special court seeking arrest warrant against six retired judges accused in the case. However, due to a two-day strike by lawyers the case could not be disposed of and special CBI court Judge A. K. Singh fixed January 31 as the next date of hearing.
Rejecting the plea by the accused seeking exemption from being physically present in the court, the judge ordered all of them to appear in person during the proceedings.
On December 22 last year, the CBI court had issued summons to 70 people, including the six retired judges and three former judges of Allahabad High Court, in the case pertaining to the alleged fraudulent withdrawal of Rs.7 crore from the PF of Class III and IV employees of Ghaziabad District Court.
The CBI had filed a charge sheet against 77 people in the case. - PTI
