With a new tagline – Dildar Dilli – the Capital city has a new identity and hopes to promote itself as a tourism-friendly destination. Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Thursday announced the city’s first-ever tagline and gave away cash awards to the winning entry.

Amit Anand was adjudged the winner for the best tagline and was presented an amount of Rs.50,000. Eight other participants were also presented cash awards by Ms. Dikshit at a function held at Delhi Secretariat. The tagline will soon become popular and is surely going to sum up the essence of Delhi and is a step towards promoting it as a world-class city, the Chief Minister said.

Delhi Tourism in association with the Delhi Government had organised a contest inviting responses from the citizens of the country.

Over 12,000 entries were received from all over the country. The idea of the tagline was to sum up the essence of Delhi.

Delhi Health Minister A. K. Walia, Power Minister Haroon Yusuf, Public Works Department Minister Raj Kumar Chauhan and Education Minister Prof. Kiran Walia, Chief Secretary D. M. Spolia, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Dr. M. M. Kutty, DTTDC Chairman Manish Chatrath, MD G. G. Saxena and directors of the DTTDC were also present at the event.
