Cancer specialists, health care workers and other concerned citizens on Monday announced the launch of a unique month-long cancer awareness programme at Delhi University beginning August second week. The programme is aimed at educating students about the need for early cancer detection.
The campaign called the “Pink Chain’’ was formally announced at a function held at The Ashok hotel on Monday evening. It has been introduced to ensure that the younger generation is made aware about the social and preventive aspects of cancer (mainly breast, lung, oral and cervical) across India.
The programme will cover 40 colleges of Delhi University and will reach out to 20,000 youth in order to educate them about the various aspects of cancer, with special emphasis on prevention and early detection.
